The Boy Soldier

In the song, Boy Soldier, I wanted to portray a story of what it may have been like for the typical country boy heading off to The Great War. I wanted the song to signify the differing reality of how those back home imagined the war and how the war actually was; how when heading off to war there was a sense of heroism in serving your country  in battle but once actually over there in the fields fighting, it was a different story. On leaving home he was just a simple country boy. Once joining the war this image vanished and he was transformed into a soldier.
